Mentone Springs Hotel Hires Inn Keeper
March 14, 2011---Mentone, AL---The Mentone Springs Hotel today announced the addition of a new team member, Mary Rogers Bridgforth, as its Inn Keeper. Bridgforth, a 2010 graduate of Mississippi University for Women, received a degree in Culinary Arts, with a minor in nutrition.
No stranger to the hospitality industry, or to Mentone, AL, Ms. Bridgforth grew up on Quiet Shades Plantation, her family’s home since the early 1800’s and now an elegant event venue in Vaughan, MS. She worked in Mentone as a camp counselor from 2005- 2008 in the equestrian program at Riverview Camp for Girls. “Growing up on my family’s home-place gave me a chance to see hospitality and food in a different way than most. Entertaining and cooking were a pleasure and seen as a gift to others. Making others feel special through hospitality of food and conversation has always brought me joy,” said Bridgforth.
Bridgforth’s past experience, includes a position as Assistant Chef at the Mississippi Museum of Art in Jackson, MS, under the direction of Chef Emily Hines Burgess (food editor for Mississippi Magazine) and as Assistant Chef at Bitterroot Ranch in Dubois, WY, featured in the book 1000 Places to See Before You Die. “Mary Rogers is a delightful person and perfect for this key position, said Jim Rotch, an owner of the hotel. Her natural southern hospitality is refreshing and her credentials are exemplary. We look forward to her help in welcoming guests and managing this unique historic hotel.”
